Art Martinez de Vara is also an award winning historian. He was the winner of the 2014 Presidio La Bahía Award for the best book on Spanish Colonial Texas and the winner of the 2014 Texas State Genealogical Society’s Writing Award, Annual for the best reference book on Texas Genealogy.
